TOW – We believe that anyone can achieve self-sufficiency and financial well-being, and ultimately build sustainable wealth regardless of their current income.
What is The Other Wealth?
The Other Wealth (TOW) is wealth beyond money. It is sustainable wealth.
TOW is a belief championed by our visionary Founder and CEO, Dr. Charity Ezenwa-Onuaku. It embraces the idea that true wealth is not measured by how much money one has. Instead, it lies in expanding our understanding of wealth beyond money and effectively leveraging it to our advantage. This means that there are different sources of wealth outside of the money you currently earn. When you understand wealth beyond money, you will skillfully manage, nurture, and sustain the growth and flow of this wealth throughout your lives.
However, people mostly focus on wealth that allows them to survive and meet their daily and monthly expenses. People who build this kind of wealth rely only on one source of income, usually earned income or income from small businesses. But they see no true transformation beyond shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves, and they see their wealth depleted after some time.
But there is a better kind of Wealth, “The Other Wealth”, which builds more wealth that continues to flow over time. This kind of wealth transforms communities, the lives of people, and that of future generations. People who build this kind of wealth explore multiple streams, have a multi-generational focus, and also build their capacity to sustain the flow of wealth over time.
TOW relies on these principles
These principles serve as the foundation that sustains the growth and flow of your wealth.
Capacity Building
Build your capacity to sustain the wealth you create. Investing in yourself is the key to building sustainable wealth because you are your most important asset. The most important investment you can ever make is investing in yourself. You are your biggest asset, and you can achieve anything you want to achieve.
So, whatever your goal is, invest in developing that capacity within you. Need a promotion or a better-paying job? Learn a new skill or improve on your existing skill. Need a business, invest in learning all about that business. Want to build wealth? Learn how money works. It’s all in you, you need to optimize it and develop the right mindset. If everything fails, your human asset is one thing that remains with you, and you can always fall back on it. You are your biggest and most important asset.
Diversified Financial Capital
What comes to mind easily when we talk about financial capital is money. Yes, money is only one piece of the puzzle. But, financial capital includes cash (which is money) plus other assets that can easily be converted to cash or can be used to produce more wealth. This includes real estate, paper assets like stocks, CDs, etc., a business and many more. We will go over them in more detail in the next sessions.
Building The Other Wealth means focusing on creating multiple streams of income by investing in multiple economic assets to unlock opportunities for creating further wealth within the different components of financial capital. This will help you move from income depletion to income replenishment.
Wealth Beyond Money
Wealth Beyond Money means you worry less about “how much money you possess.” Instead, focus on knowing all about “the resources you have” and what you can do to continuously improve. Look beyond money and explore the opportunities in social, cultural, and human capital.
True wealth is not measured by how much money one has. Instead, it lies in expanding our understanding of wealth beyond money and effectively leveraging it to our advantage. That is skillfully managing, nurturing, and sustaining its growth and flow throughout our lives.
Multi-generational Focus
TOW has a long-term multigenerational focus. This means your wealth does not only flow during your lifetime. It continues to grow and flow throughout your life, and you can pass it on from one generation to another. However, you are not just passing on the financial capital, but also the values, the culture, and the secrets that ensure that the wealth does not deplete after one generation.
So, to build sustainable wealth, focus on strategies that create value and build wealth that are capable of being maintained to flow at a steady level and continue over time.
From Income Depletion To Income Replenishment
Everyone experiences income depletion, whether rich or poor because we typically use the income we make to take care of our expenses. What differentiates the rich from the poor is that the rich find ways to replenish the income they spend, by creating more income beyond their level of expenses. The rich incur expenses, a lot more than the poor, but they create other sources of income to replace the income spent and reinvest some of it to continue to grow and create more income.
This principle means that to break away from the cycle of poverty or living from paycheck to paycheck, look beyond your earned income and exploit other sources of making additional income so you can move from income depletion to income replenishment.
Technology As A Leverage
The concept of TOW is much more than accumulating wealth. It involves embracing the mindset, strategies, attitudes, and habits that drive financial success. In today’s fast-paced, digital age, technological tools are transforming the way we manage money, make financial decisions, and pursue our financial goals.
Leveraging these emerging technologies can help you manage your finances, gain insights quickly, make sound financial decisions, and ultimately help you build sustainable wealth. Modern technologies, such as the WealthyGen app, also have built-in AI features that provide personalized recommendations to guide you toward improving your finances and building wealth. Those are six principles of The Other Wealth. Remember, TOW is a belief that anyone can build wealth regardless of current income as opportunities exist to create more wealth from the other capital stocks such as human, social, and cultural capital. And that further wealth exists beyond money in the different economic assets within the financial capital.
